Israeli Strike Scenarios, Land Bases or Aircraft Carriers, Dubious Intelligence Sources…..

I am somewhat dubious about this following report from the British Daily Express that was eagerly picked up by Iranian media. The Saudis are extremely careful to enhance their ‘Islamic’ credentials, and allowing Israeli war planes would completely destroy that. It looks like a bit of Iranian disinformation or propaganda, but the source is British, although I am not familiar with the Daily Express. It seems to give a lot of credit to British intelligence. But then again, the Israelis, if they ever decide to strike Iran, will need to cross someone’s airspace. Who that someone will be, I have no idea. But I have several candidates, including flying from US aircraft carriers in the Arabian Sea or the Persian Gulf. That last alternative is highly unlikely as it can be a casus belli for closing the Strait of Hormuz, but no doubt is one option being discussed outside this website.

SAUDIS WILL LET ISRAEL BOMB IRAN NUCLEAR SITE: Intelligence chief Sir John Scarlett has been told that Saudi Arabia is ready to allow Israel to bomb Iran’s new nuclear site.
“The head of MI6 discussed the issue in London with Mossad chief Meir Dagan and Saudi officials after British intelligence officers helped to uncover the plant, in the side of a mountain near the ancient city of Qom. The site is seen as a major threat by Tel Aviv and Riyadh. Details of the talks emerged after John Bolton, America’s former UN ambassador, told a meeting of intelligence analysts that “Riyadh certainly approves” of Israel’s use of Saudi airspace....... Daily Express

“Riyadh 'offers airspace' for Israel attack on Iran. Israeli fighter jets have been allowed to use Saudi airspace to launch go-it-alone air strikes on Iranian nuclear installations, says a recent report. The British daily added the likelihood of an Israeli attack against Iran has increased significantly after the country announced plans to launch its second enrichment facility in the central city of Qom. In line with its policy of nuclear transparency, Iran announced the construction of a second enrichment plant in a letter to the UN nuclear watchdog on September 21. The new plant is due to produce enriched uranium up to 5 percent…….” Press TV (Iran)
