A Stone of Obedience, A Sorceress Caught, Rescuing Polygamy……

“A sorceress was arrested by the Society for Propagation of Vice and Prevention of Virtue (PVPV, religious police) in the Hail region. She is of an Arab nationality (telling us she is not Saudi), and called the magic “Stone of Obedience” or the “Taming Stone”.... a cylindrical stone popular mostly among women, especially school teachers. It is supposed to make husbands obedient to their wives through the influence of demons. Women were advised to perform “polytheistic” rituals in order to increase the effectiveness. A source has told Okaz that most clients of the sorceress were female employees of the public and private sector, especially teachers, as well as financially wealthy women....the stone would discourage the husband from thinking of taking another wife and encourage respect for the wife…. The VPVP recommended that she and her husband be jailed, flogged, then expelled from the country (maybe not necessarily in that order)...” Okaz (Saudi)

 Looks like this stone discouraged polygamy and encouraged respect for the wife. No wonder the religious police worked so hard to catch her.
