Winds of Iran War , A Friend of Lolita and Warlords, Trading Iran for Georgia, Surgical Strike at Carrhae…….

Thus opines a friend of assorted right-wing legacy warlords in Lebanon. Although I can understand and appreciate Azar Nafisi’s metaphor (I think that is what it is), which also applies to at least a couple of other Middle East country as well. But I doubt that she is pushing for a war: I thought only Iranian exiles who are regular guests on Fox News want war.
“Iran: has the specter of a military strike returned? The Iranian reply to the ‘international community’ about the nuclear file was no answer. Instead of providing answers about her nuclear program Iran provided a parcel of ideas and suggestions to solve various international issues, as well as pending regional issues.....Hence the probability of war has returned, and we need to observe Israeli behavior., and the behavior of Iran’s allies in the region.....and let’s not forget Iran’s internal issues.....”
And hope springs eternal that someone, if not Washington, then the boys (and girls, let’s not forget those) in Tel Aviv (actually Jerusalem) will do what is decent and take care of the mullahs…..on our behalf.....even if our last well-funded hero from Tikrit failed miserably.

“Israel makes a deal with Russiaa today titled “Georgia in exchange for Iran”, sort of like the “Oil for food” deal….The deal between Israel and Russia has a strategic depth that goes beyond a mere shipment of arms to Iran…the deal is ‘Iran in exchange for a stable Georgia....”;
I have never heard such analytical nonsense as this one, not this year, not so far. But I am keeping my fingers crossed. If I were a coarse impolite person I’d call it like I see it: that this analysis is completely asinine (is there something that is incompletely asinine?)- but I am not , so I won’t.
“Iran getting ready for war...... Iran has decided to negotiate with the West only from a position of strength....."
“Iran and the probability of a strike: The clouds gathering in the skies of the region makes it clear that factors are gathering for military strike against Iran. Perhaps the United States will give Israel the green light this time for a lightening surgical strike....”
Surgical indeed. If Israel could not do surgical strikes in small places like Southern Lebanon or Gaza, how can she perform a lightening strike into Iran? Lightening strikes have a way of degenerating into quagmires and eventual defeats. Just look at Saddam’s lightening attack on Iran in 1980: it was a lightening strike for about two days, did not achieve its goals, and went on to last eight years and ended in defeat. Lebanon 2006 was barely better.
I also remember Carrhae: I recall that at Carrhae (about 53 BC), Marcus Licinius Crassus and his Roman legions were.....
