Have Fatwa, Will Travel

“The Honorable Shaikh Y al-Qardhawi, head of the World Union of Muslim Ulema, has fatwa-ed that an Iraqi should not acquire the citizenship of the American occupier….He said he allows Muslims in American and Europe to acquire the citizenship of those places, but not Iraqis under occupation, for this would be one of the greatest of crimes.....”

I wonder if the shaikh is still pissed because his son converted to a different sect of Islam in recent years.The country he comes from and the country whose citizenship he carries both have foreign bases. It is bases and facilities rather than occupation. Still he adroitly avoided that thorny issue.
