In Praise of Tribalism: Saudis Doing ‘Honorable Resistance’ in Iraq but ‘Terrorism’ at Home

“There is no lost love between al-Maliki and those close to him and Iraqi tribes. Al-Maliki deals with Arab tribes and the bedu of Iraq as if they were part of the former regime. They are part of traditional Iraq that he wants to eliminate. He blames them, or accuses them, of supporting the resistance, which he calls ‘terrorism’,while the bedu call it ‘honorable resistance’. ……
“No doubt al-Malki’s attempt to marginalize the tribes is based on the belief that weakening the Arab tribes and the bedu will accelerate the birth of the new Iraq that is unattached to its Arab roots and culture……he wants to achieve the second goal of the occupation of Iraq…..Weakening the tribes will break up Iraq and lead to a fierce civil war……”
New definitions:
:Q: What is 'honorable resistance'?
A: a suicide bomber killing 95 Iraqis.
Q: What is 'terrorism'?
A: the same suicide bomber trying to kill a royal prince in Riyadh.
It looks increasingly that the lines are being drawn on Iraq. The Saudis are openly threatening a civil war, the opening salvos of which we are seeing these days. The Iranians are silent in their media about this, although they predictably blame the Saudis, and almost certainly doing their own machinations. Not the Syrians, whom the Iraqis are now accusing openly of meddling. Actually the last Iraqi salvo was aimed at both Syria and Saudi Arabia, since the latest terrorist arrested was Saudi, recruited in Saudi Arabia, and smuggled through Syria.
When Dawood al-Shiryan in a Saudi daily defends what he call honorable ‘tribal’ resistance in Iraq, he is talking about these foreigners, the Salafi fundamentalist Saudi suicide bombers who cross the border. The same ones that he attacks when they target a Saudi prince, even though they are native citizens in their own homeland in the latter case.
So, if it is ‘national’ resistance, why are foreigners doing the noisiest resisting through suicide bombings? And when the Americans leave, who will these foreigner suicide bombers be resisting?
And what about that last suicide bombers in Riyadh, who rectal intestines absorbed the explosion and literally saved the Saudi prince? How can we define him? Is it resistance to kill 95 Iraqis but terrorism to attempt to kill one prince?
