Gulf and FIFA Sports: a Potentate’s Sticky Fingers

Elaph has learned from a close source that Head of the Bahrain Soccer Union Shaikh Salman Bin Ibraheem al-Khalifa was a candidate to take over the Public Association for Youth and Sports, succeeding current president Shaikh Fawaz Bin Mohammed al-Khalifa, who is slated to move to a high position in an expected new cabinet reshuffle. However, the new scandal of the financial deficit uncovered in the Bahrain Soccer Union may postpone or put an end to that prospect……large sums of Union money use to finance his campaign to a seat on the Executive committee of the FIFA World Football(Soccer) Federation……

A campaign which I may add the shaikh lost deservedly to Mr. Bin Hammam.

It is not surprising the shaikh could not resist inserting his sticky digits in public funds; what is surprising to him (and to me) is that he was exposed in some media outlet. c Not a line has ever been mentioned about all that in friendly media like Elaph.

I have a hunch he, the wayward shaikh, will make up the deficit, and then he will make up his making up of the deficit, many times over.
(This should be filed under the “wtf” category, but I don’t use foul language here, not unless I have to).Cheers and Ramadan Kareem
