Lebanese Whiplash: Are the Warlords Kissing and Making Up?

This is gracious from leader of the March 14 movement, the movement that resorted to blatant sectarian messages for the past two years, and encouraged Salafi ideology and armed groups for the first time in Lebanon. Especially during the election campaign.
It is also gracious from al-Manar (Hezbullah TV) to post his message on their site.
See? The Lebanese can be sweet to each other too when they have to. Jumblatt praises the resistance (Hezbullah), and vice versa; Hariri praises Nasrallah (not exactly, but close) and vice versa (close).
Everybody is talking about visits to Damascus to kiss and make up with Bashar al-Assad.
Maybe it took having Netanyahu and Lieberman (Avigdor, not Joe) at the door to focus their minds. Maybe it was partly the unclear succession and power struggle in Saudi Arabia, or the political turmoil in Iran.
Most likely all of the above.
It is enough to give any observer the whiplash. But Lebanon is resilient: Arab tourists crowded Beirut as soon as it looked like there would be no shooting. But then again, where else in the 'hood can thirsty and hungry Gulf Arab go where they can see all these bikinis worth seeing, and do all the things they can get flogged for back home?
For the time being.....
Cheers and Ramadan Kareem
