Gulf of Confusion: Plethora of Terrorist Plots, Claims, al-Qaeda, Iraq, Iran, and Watermelon Journalism

“Alharbu Khid’a: War is Deceit”

                    Prophet Mohammed (Hadith)

Kuwait has announced the arrest of an al-Qaeda cell that was planning to blow up government buildings as well as the ‘Eraifjan Military Base which is used by American forces. Six members of the cell were arrested…..Our information indicates that Bahrain security agencies tip the Kuwait counterparts that the Kuwait cell was in touch with a sleeper Bahraini cell…….Kuwait’d former Minister of Information, S. al-Ajmi, told Alarabiya that all members of the cell have been arrested, that they were planning attacks during the coming month of Ramadan..…….etc Alarabiya

I am not sure wtf a former minister of information doing making official-sounding public statements. But I'll let it pass.

"Bahrain authorities announced that they learned about the Kuwati al-Qaeda cell and its arrest from the Kuwaiti media….. Elaph

Iranian terrorist plots for Kuwait and the (Arabian) Gulf: Kuwait authorities’ arrest of an Iranian with a phony Iraqi passport and other identification is a clear sign of the terrorist plots being hatched by Iran’s intelligence agencies and their infiltration of security……. Iraqi (Sunni) columnist in the right wing daily rag alseyassah

In the Gulf these days, anything is possible, and probable. But what irks me about this columnist is that he reminds me so much of the Ba'athist propagandists of the old days: he uses the same old Ba'athist terms. He also writes in a daily that used to champion Saddam until 1990. Or is this just our usual watermelon journalism.
This is not to say that there are no Iranian plans and plots: I have no idea, but he seems certain, and I don't like certainty in anyone other than myself.

Who stands behind the bloodbaths in Iraq? Many Iraqis believe that various elements of the Iraqi regime are behind the violence, which seems to hit everyone, without regard for ethnic background or sect...…. Another Iraqi (Sunni) columnist, in the same daily rag alseyassah

Not sure about hitting every sect: they seem to focus on only one sect, because they are from the opposite sect, if you get my meaning. He has an agenda, we all do. I strongly suspect that he is lying through his bad teeth, but the daily rags down south like what he is saying.I also doubt that Gulf media is the right path to win friends and influence people in Iraq: for that they should read Iraq’s own Dale Carnegie. Not sure who that can be: definitely not al-Sadr nor Hashimi, nor that weasel al-Samarrai. Probably al-Sistani comes the closest: he is as good as you get in Iraq.
