Money Laundering, Property Laundering, Beach Laundering, and Watermelon Laundering on the Gulf

Knowledgeable sources have told al-Qabas that the Criminal Investigation and the Public Prosecution Departments are coordinating to question people accused of ‘sudden wealth’….

There are 400 individuals who have been selected to be questioned about the sources of funds that showed up in their bank accounts. This is within the Money Laundering Laws which allow the state to investigate anyone who shows signs of sudden wealth, i.e. who have amounts of 10,000 dinars or more in their accounts. Anyone who does not give acceptable answers will be charged.......

This new policy is clearly made for the hiffai, the Gulfie equivalent name for the poor schmucks of society. I think ten thousand dinars in someone’s bank account is the last thing we need to worry about. Millions, nay hundreds of millions, nay possibly over a billion (USD) in one case, have been laundered from the public to the private sector (and I use the term ‘laundered’ in place of a much less polite term).
Media reports say that some of these large amounts are still being laundered (and I use the term ‘laundered’ in place of a much less polite term). Huge areas of public lands have been transferred over time (you can say all these lands were also ‘laundered’ from the public to the private sector, to use a more polite term than is warranted).

The whole beach front has been transferred (I am using a polite and genteel term here)
and converted into private chalets and beaches for the potentates and people of influence.. Someone more outspoken than myself would use a stronger term (but not moi: I am too polite and genteel for that vulgar term)  Yes, you can say the beachfront was laundered, nearly bleached out of access by the average honest public (the aforementioned hiffai).
And we are worried about 10 thousand dinars in some poor schmuck’s bank account…..
This is peanuts, even under our watermelon rules…..
Cheers
