A Fatwa on Swine Flu: A New Path to Martyrdom

I think he meant only the Muslims who die of the Swine Flu, and probably only those of a certain sect of Islam.
I can see the shaikh trying to comfort stricken people and their families, but a ‘martyr’?
Before you know it the ‘flu’ will become the favorite means of suicide: everybody aspires to paradise. That may have one positive effect: many young Arabs who might join al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups in search of paradise and the promised rewards and diversions of ‘over there’, can be lured to help those stricken with the swine flu. If they catch it and die, then they can get to paradise without killing innocent people. If they live, they can try again: keep on helping the stricken until they get it and achieve their eternal goal.
There will still be time for those losers who fail to join al-Qaeda at a later time.
I wonder if the shaikh has proof that God has recently appointed him to distribute such divine largesse. It would be helpful to his credibility with me if he can show a notarized Power of Attorney (from Him). I am not in Missouri, but I'd insist on him showing me, especially because I know this ‘martyrdom’ fatwa does not apply to me or my family, nor does it apply to tens of millions of Muslims who are of different sects from the shaikh.
(I bet if Scooter ever bites me, and she happens to have some serious exotic canine affliction, I will not be a martyr according to the Shaikh al-Obeikan, and not just because of my Shi’a background. What is good for the pig is not necessarily good for the pooch. But that's O.K: if the shaikh is bitten by his best friend he won't go there either)
Cheers
