Gulf Dreams of Boubyan and Nice: Tourist Dream, Tourist Nightmare

I know one way to do it. It is the easy way, unfortunately the only way: trade places with the French, the Cypriots, the Spaniards, even the Tunisians, or any of many other cultures that have what we do not have, and will not have in my life time or in yours.
Let those people come here, and send those who are here over there, including especially the official planners and their flunkies, including those in charge of keeping the environment clean. That way you can make sure the potentates do not mess things up. You can also make sure that they don’t hog the shores and beaches of Boubyan for their own private chalets like they have done the mainland.
And while at it, don’t forget to ship out most of the aromatic petroleum and petrochemical plants as well. Then give it about a decade or so.
At the end of it our country will be transformed into a tourist dream. But theirs will be also transformed: into tourist nightmares.
