Middle East Media, L’affaire Gates, Cambridge’s Finest, Stupidity, Birthers, and Deathers

A few weeks ago, after Michael Jackson's death, I wrote here “Is America becoming silly.” That was after whole networks devoted their time to gossip and speculation about his life and death: Larry King has been at it non-stop since Jackson’s death (he is scheduled to continue doing it today; I checked).

Now, in the aftermath of the outcry about the Gates-Crowley-Obama-GOP incident, the question should be: is American media going even sillier than before?

In the beginning were the ‘birthers’…….worrying about Barack Obama’s real place of birth…..
Now there are the ‘deathers’……..worrying the elderly and seniors to death that Barack Obama’s health plan will cause them to be put to death early (euthanized)…

Birthers and deathers have at least one thing in common: they are Republicans. The Party of Abraham Lincoln, later the Party of Jim Crow, is now the party of soft bigotry that is hardening fast (no, not of the bigotry of low expectations as their greatest ideologue from Midland and Crawford claimed a few years ago).
