Living It Up: Of Young Sarkozy and Old Oligarchs

Sarko and the Oligarchs:
Current economic condition force all French citizens to economize and cut back, except for president Nicolas Sarkozy. He is the first president to make public the detailed expenditures. Here is the list of his expenses:

"Spends Euro 280 thousand annually on fresh flowers for the Elysee Palace.

"The French president has 61 cars, tow Airbus jets, and six Falcon planes.

"On his private travels, a jet plane always flies along in case he needs to return to Paris urgently.

"He spends a million Euro on drinks (big spender), and has one thousand employees, including 44 drivers and 87 chefs.

"He and wife Carla Bruni can order food any time of the day: the kitchen is always open.

"Experts doubt that these figures will make Frenchmen angry in these times. Most of them think that the president should represent the country well.

The An Arabic web site got many responses from their readers. I found the following of interest:

I had heard that Sarkozy is of Jewish origins, but reading this I believe that he has Arab origins.

And do we ever know what Arab leaders have?

It is nice to have relatively young presidents who do sports. Compare that to (our) aged leaders who are so old and decrepit they practically rule their countries from inside museums….and spend millions on colors and dye for their hair and beards….And armies that exhaust the budgets but only protect the thrones and terrorize the peoples…

Faux Pas:
The Ministry of Labor made a serious mistake when it listed the countries whose citizens are eligible to apply for certain jobs in the country. Among the countries whose citizens were eligible was Israel, even though holders of Israeli passports are not allowed into the kingdom. The error was corrected when someone noticed it and called someone who called someone who called….."
