An Epic into a Soundbite: Waterloo, Gettysberg, Obama, Bonaparte, Austerlitz, GOP, Healthcare, Lobbyists, Lobbyists…..

The US media is full of comments and reactions to the Obama Health Care Plan (it is not the 'Obama health care' plan. He, like all those senators who oppose health care reform, have a nice public plan paid for by the government, thank you very much).
The code word for the past two days has been Waterloo. But he can’t have his Waterloo yet, he has not even gone through many other places like Marengo, Borodino, and Austerlitz, especially Austerlitz (also called by some the Battle of the Three Emperors). Actually Borodino was more like a stalemate than a victory for Nappy, or Boney to the British, but nobody in the Republican Party hierarchy probably knows that.
It is possible that the Health Care issue will be more like a Borodino, where Obama wins an incomplete victory.Still I m not sure why the senator from South Carolina did not call it Obama's Gettysberg.
What they said almost two hundred years ago about Waterloo:
Napoleon Bonaparte: "Never interrupt your enemy while he's making a mistake. That's bad manners."
Duke of Wellington: "Oh, Boney's not a gentleman. On the field of battle his hat is worth fifty thousand men; but he is not a gentleman."
Duke of Wellington: "By God, that man (Bonaparte) does war honor."
Prussian Field Marshal Gebhard von Blucher: "Raise high the black flags, my children. No prisoners. No pity. I will shoot any man I see with pity in him." (They have been at it for generations!).
Duke of Wellington (no, not Ellington): "Next to a battle lost, the saddest thing is a battle won."
What they are saying now about Waterloo, mostly in and around Washington:
“Nearly 200 years ago, emperor Napoleon came back from exile and re-conquered France without firing a shot. His conquest of Europe failed when Napoleon, in proper English terms, was soundly thrashed at Waterloo by the Duke of Wellington,,,,,Napoleon might be long gone, but President Obama is doing his best to fill his boots….” Put any GOP name here.
“Just the other day, one Republican senator said – and I'm quoting him now – ‘If we’re able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo. It will break him,’” President Obama.
“And I believe he is meeting his Waterloo as we speak. … Until now he’s never lost a battle. After this, he may never win one.” Dick (Head) Morris: Fox News.
“Steele Calls Obama Health Care Socialism, Agrees This His Waterloo…..” By this point it is losing its originality.
“Health reform foes plan Obama's 'Waterloo': Conservative leaders will push delay any vote on health care reform until after the August recess to capitalize on what they say is a growing tide of opposition to reform measures, they said on a conference call with "tea party" participants today….” Politico
“Will Afghanistan be Obama's Waterloo? ….”Jul 10, 2009 …….” Etc.
“Health reform foes plan Obama's 'Waterloo' - Congress……”
Actually Obama knows his Waterloo, he has been to Waterloo long before this Health debate started, as far back as the election campaign.
