Ahamadinejad’s Second Chance. Suspicious Egypt Arrests More Usual Suspects

“We are always paid for our suspicion by finding what we suspect.” Henry David Thoreau
Oh, no, here comes Ahmadinejad again:
"The 15th summit of the non-aligned movement was concluded under the banner of ‘solidarity for world peace’. The next summit of the movement of over 118 nations will be held in Tehran in 2012…..”
The hairy horn will have a chance to wax diplomatic as he fetes the world leaders. Other, not non-aligned, leaders attended this one in Egypt. Sarkozy (Sarko the Oggler) was there. But it is not clear whether he will dare show up in Tehran while he is getting ready for a tough re-election campaign. Besides, will Madame Sarkozy (Carla Bruni sounds much better) consent to wearing a head scarf to placate the mullahs?
The usual suspects are at it again:
“Egypt’s authorities announced that their anti-terror forces have arrested 25 people suspected of being, well, terrorists. A security source said that it is suspected some of them belong to the suspected ‘Hezbullah group’ forty-six of whose members were arrested under the suspicion that they were planning attacks and to spread Shi’a (Shi’ite) ideology in Egypt, by order of Lebanese Hezbullah….more suspicions to come….”
You figure this one out. It is possible that their suspicions are justified.
But I suspect that this whole thing has to do with smuggling suspicious ‘things’ into Gaza, whether it is weapons, fuel, cigarettes, or food. I also suspect that most of them, if not all, are most likely in it for the money. I also suspect that the Egyptian authorities are frustrated and embarrassed that they can’t seem to control a short sliver of a few short miles of border with Gaza, that they can’t prevent their own people from doing these ‘suspicious’ things. I suspect that most likely that is why they express suspicion that there are wider plots to commit suspicious terrorist attacks (something Lebanese Hezbullah has never done in Egypt, although there is a first time for everything).
Furthermore, I suspect that is also the reason why they claim they suspect the group is engaged in spreading suspicious Shia ideology (like the idea that a president should not last, in office not in this world, more than two terms).
On the other hand, some Palestinians of Hamas have accused the Israelis of smuggling the wrong things into Gaza, things like aphrodisiacs that tend to make young people's thoughts turn 'south'.....
Israelis, for their part, have also been accused by the Egyptian government-controlled media in the past of plotting to spread drugs and HIV among Egyptians, mainly through comely Israeli tourists....
I suspect that the day will come when governments in the Middle East will arrest people because they suspect them of ...being suspicious.... It is mathematically possible.
It is all confusing.
