“Thank Allah that the plan to pipe our water form Shatt al-Arab or the Euphrates was never implemented. In addition to the cost and security concerns, we would have needed a lot of work purifying it from germs and pollutants. People of science tell us that the waters of Shatt al-Arab are infected with a certain kind of thin worms. When one of these worms is ingested, it settles in the stomach, where it goes through a cycle lasting six months, until it reaches the muscles of the leg or the arm, where it would drill a hole that causes extreme pain.
"Getting rid of the worm is done by inserting a match stick carefully into the anus, where it is carefully and gingerly spun around until the whole worm is rolled around it, then it is pulled out. There is no other than this painful disgusting way to get the worm out. It must be done carefully: if the worm is cut while inside, the remaining part will grow into a new warm….So much for piping water from the Shatt…….”.
O Boy.I don’t really know what to say; a rare moment of being not only tongue-tied, but also pen-tied.
But how does the match stick get to the worm if it is embedded inside the arm or leg? It can’t be that long (the match stick). I think I’ll quit while I am ahead.
