Inviting a Coup in Qatar?

Gulf fear of Qatari alliance with Tehran: Knowledgeable Qatari sources have revealed recently in London that tensions are rising withing the ruling circles of Qatar, as a result of differences and pulls among some high officials in the emirate. Part of the conflict relates to marginalization of some officials. The sources said that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Qatar, General H A al-Atiya has threatened to resign his post after his return from a recent visit to Iran/. The visit was aimed at stressing Qatari solidarity with Tehran……

What about the regional headquarters of the US Central Command which is hosted byQatar? It hardly sounds like the policy of a country ready to throw its lot with the Shi’a mullahs in Iran. Especially if the source is “knowledgeable, but unnamed”: they must have learned this old trick from al-seyassah.

This sounds like part of the ongoing media and psychological war going in Saudi media against Qatar. Or maybe it is a veiled invitation for a military-palace coup against the current emir. Or an invitation for the un-accommodating Qataris to leave the currency union plan. Or maybe it was just a slow day in the news business. Of course, it is remotely possible that some source revealed all this to them, but tghen we must wonder how knowledgeable is/was that source…..
Cheers
