Of Mad Arabs Running for Office Against Mummies. al-Kookie's Lament
Al-Kookie's lament:“Tunisian Alia al-Kooki was released from a mental hospital yesterday. He had been held at the mental institute since declaring a run for the presidency against incumbent president Binali for the October 2009 elections…He had been held since declaring his candidacy last March…He was held because the doctors said that he is dangerous to himself and to others…al-Kooki has a Masters degree in engineering and had called for an end to corruption…”
Al Kookie is considered so by Arab political standards. Given the state of the Arab mind, politically, he would be considered at least peculiar, and possible downright dangerous in many if not most Arab states.
Anyone who runs against an Arab leader who has been in power unopposed for a quarter century has to be kookie.
You might as well ask an Arab king to give up the throne- ask a potentate to give up the kickbacks/commissions he or she gets from arms contracts.
The last one to try running against an incumbent was in Egypt, and he was thrown in jail for several years even though he was not officially certified as kookie. And he was running against a mummy!
FYI: all Arabs who try to run against their leaders run against mummies. They either start by running against mummies or end up running against mummies. There is no escaping mummies in Arab politics. Sort of like the United States Senate.
