Is it true what rumors say that Benjamin Netanyahu has converted? No, not to the two-state policy favored by the USA and most Arabs- to Islam.
One report says that he became a Salafi after inadvertently getting hold of a Saudi high school textbook on religion written by Shaikh al-Kalb-ani, unter-Custodian of the Holy Mosque at Mecca. Presumably, then, Bibi is waiting to prepare the ground before telling his coalition partners. That may explain all his recent talk about a common Israeli-Arab front against Iran as the common enemy. He is trying to make the whole thing palatable to the Likud and the smaller expansionist zealot parties. Not clear when he will come out of the closet- if he is indeed inside it.
Another unlikely story has him converted to Shi’ism, after listening to a recording of a moving Ashoura sermon given in Kuwait by Shaikh al-Fali before he was forced to leave by his Salafi detractors who claimed he was not talking nicely about a couple of guys who died 14 centuries ago. Lieberman (mean-looking Avigdor not goofy-looking Joe) never read that book nor watched the taped sermon: he is still unrepentant. He is thinking of going into real estate either after he leaves office or after he is indicted (most likely for a financial malfeasance or for beating up another small kid)- whichever comes first. I have always thought Avigdor looks so much like a Hamas-ite. The man could be a Hamas functionary just by his looks, and his zealotry.
BTW: notice how Lieberman (mean-looking Avigdor not goofy-looking Joe) is being kept out of the limelight? He has missed trips to Egypt and Washington by Netanyahu. Is he being deliberately hidden in some diplomatic cellar, like the proverbial (?) batty aunt or crazy uncle? Ya ne znayo.
