Talking about June Lebanese elections. There is an expectancy in the air that Hezbullah and her Christian allies (General Michel Oun, et al) will win a majority. Hezbullah supporters and spokesmen are optimistic, the March 14 (Hariri) allies seem dejected, almost resigned to a loss.
Nassrallah has even said that if the March 14 (Hariri) refuse to enter a cabinet formed by his coalition, they will rule alone. It may be too early for him to count his eggs, or is it his chickens?
The crisis with Egypt does not seem to have helped the March 14, as may have been planned. The renaming Hezullah as “Iranian Hezbullah” in the Saudi media does not seem to have helped: the Lebanese know that almost all their parties have foreign “patrons”: whether it is in the form of Iranian money and arms or Saudi money and arms for one side or the other. But it ain’t over yet, not until the fat lady sings.
Cheers
