The US Economy: Government as the Solution Not the Problem- The Enemy Within?- Rain in Spain on McCain (Absent Lieberman)

"The government is not the solution.....it is (part of?) the problem.." Ronald Reagan...unless the private sector screws up big time, which it is wont to do if left unbridled, and needs the government to provide the cure.
"What can terrorists do to destroy or ruin the U.S economy?"
Speculation by a CNN anchorman Rick Sanchez today.
Rick, they already have come close this year. They are here, they do not have to sneak in. They are within, dressed in dark business suits and ties. They occupy executive offices in New York and other places. Some are also in Washington, and these are the enablers of those in the financial market. They have already done some severe damage, and we know that now because they have run out of time and out of tricks to cover it up. Now they are jumping with their golden parachutes, parachutes made up of many millions of dollars of money belonging to shareholders and taxpayers. Their mismanaged companies (AIG, Lehman, Merrill Lynch and others) are also getting golden parachutes from the federal government, to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars. Or maybe it will be a couple of trillions by the end of the day. Soon, even CEO's who have been sending jobs to Southeast and South Asia by the millions will also join the line for public money- they are already lining up. Hey, Bin Laden couldn't do more damage to the economy than these bozos, and the Republican administrations, have been doing.
Today McCain, in desperation, threw Chris Cox of the SEC under the bus. It is deserved, but where was McCain all those years as a senator and committee chairman and member? He has also thrown his party's president and his own long-held policy positions under the bus.
"We cannot have taxpayer money used to bail out AIG and others..." John McCain, last Tuesday....but that was then.
"I am bullish on the US economy....because of Sarah Palin.." Lawrence Kudlow, fading guru on CNBC last week (maybe it was after 6 PM). Sarah Palin herself seems to be fading (as a celebrity fad), but her fires will continue to burn bright in righwing radio talk show studios and on Fox News.
McCain does not know who the Prime Minister of Spain is? Can you repeat Z-a-p-a-t-e-r-o? Where is Joe Lieberman when the foreign policy expert needs him? Or maybe he just doesn't like him.
Watched Bill O'Reilly and Dick(tete) Morris strategize how McCain can beat Obama. Their best solution for the Republicans? Obama's purported plan to increase capital gains and dividend taxes. Capital gains and dividend taxes for the unemployed workers in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Indeed.
Cheers
