Arabian Olympic Tin Cup, Interfaith Exchange of Organs, A Warning on Theocracy

"Brother, can you spare a medal?" Alarabiya (Saudi) columnist on the medal chances of his country in the Beijing Olympic games. Actually Bahrain didn't do so bad, but they reportedly did it with a hired Moroccan runner.
The Egyptian Doctors' Association, their equivalent of the AMA, had proposed a ban on inter-faith exchange of body organs (nothing to do with marriage or extra-curriculat activities). Muslim body parts should not be used for Christians, and vice versa- and that ban was to be applied to all parts, not just circumcised organs.
This week the Association withdrew its foolish proposal, reportedly under pressure from "higher authority". No, it was not pressure from God, Allah, Yahweh, etc.
More likely it was from a demi-god, a god-king, who worried about media reaction and those pesky blogs.
"The ascension to power of the (Shi'a) mullahs in Iran convinced many among Sunni clerics that governance is a theocratic not temporal (civil) right. Some of the latter assert today the illegality of those who rule today. This Sunni imitation of the Shi'a ignores the religious interpretations of each sect and the different traditions of each. But love of power is a human not a religious desire." Asharq alawsat (Saudi) daily editorial.
"Israel complains that the Lebanese has given Hizbullah legality, and threatens that she will target all of Lebanon in a future war with Hizbullah." Alarabiya.
Cheers
